India’s leading mobile phone manufacturer, Micromax, has recently announced its plans to expand its business into Russia and other European markets. Now, the company’s co-founder, Rahul Sharma, in an interview with Times Of India, has admitted that the company is working on a smartphone based on Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS. Moreover, he also stated that the handset would be made ready to be launched by the mid of next year.

In the interview, he said, “We are working on a Windows phone and you might see something from us around mid of next year.”

Thus, Micromax is certainly working on a new Windows Phone based smartphone. However, the co-founder didn’t shed any light on the specs and price of the upcoming device in the interview.
The second largest smartphone manufacturer in India, has been on a news continuously eversince it started teasing the Canvas Turbo, the company’s first phablet with 2GB RAM and FHD display. The device is already available for sale on Infibeam.
Additionally, the homegrown manufacturer also surprised its fans by roping in one of the most popular Hollywood stars, Hugh Jackman, as its brand ambassador. However, appointing the actor is probably the part of the bigger plan of the company to expand globally.
